KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has maintained its lead in most seats as counting continues following the House of Representatives elections held on Thursday.
According to the latest tally as of 9 pm, RSP has won four seats and is taking a commanding lead across the country. The party is leading in 109 constituencies under the first-past-the-post voting.
The Nepali Congress (NC) has won two seats and is leading in 11 seats. Similarly, the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has won one seat and is leading in six, while CPN-UML is leading the count in 10 seats.
The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) (CPN-UML), which was a major force in the previous parliament, is yet to win a seat but is leading in 20 constituencies.
Among smaller parties, the Shram Sanskriti Party is leading in six seats, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), and Ujyaalo Nepal Party (UNP) are leading in one seat each.
Similarly, independent candidate Mahabir Pun, who has been endorsed by the RSP, is leading in Myagdi.
The 275-seat House of Representatives comprises 165 members elected under the FPTP system and 110 under the proportional representation system.
