KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has finalized the list of 57 individuals to be nominated as members of the House of Representatives under the proportional representation (PR) electoral system.
A meeting of the party’s Secretariat held on Sunday finalized the list, which includes 48 women and nine men, according to RSP Spokesperson Manish Jha.
Jha said that 17 were nominated from Khas Arya, 16 from indigenous nationalities, nine from Madhesi, eight from Dalit, four from Tharu, and three from Muslim clusters.
The party, however, has not made the names public. Jha said the names would only be made public after the list is verified by the Election Commission (EC). “We will submit the list to the EC on Sunday itself,” he added.
The RSP has won 125 seats under the first-past-the-post system. With the addition of 57 PR seats, the party’s total strength in the House of Representatives will reach 182 seats—two seats short of a two-thirds majority.
