KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is heading toward a landslide victory in the House of Representatives election, taking a commanding lead in the first-past-the-post (FPTP) vote count.
As of 3:00 pm on Friday, RSP was leading in 95 constituencies out of the 126 seats where counting is currently underway under the FPTP system.
Early trends have placed the party, which was formed just ahead of the 2022 general elections, far ahead of its rivals.
According to the latest tally, the Nepali Congress (NC) is trailing in second place, leading in 20 constituencies, while the CPN-UML is ahead in eight seats. The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) is leading in nine constituencies, while other parties or independent candidates are leading in two seats.
Only two seats have been declared so far. Ranju Darshana of RSP was elected from Kathmandu-1, while Yogesh Gauchan Thakali of NC was victorious from Mustang.
