KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to register a proposal to reject the ordinances introduced by the government.
A meeting of the RSP’s parliamentary chaired by Deputy Leader Biraj Bhakta Shrestha took the decision on Wednesday.
RSP’s Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar said that the meeting decided to register a proposal to reject the ordinances, concluding that the government had bypassed Parliament to introduce the crucial laws.
Pariyar also added that the meeting decided to oppose the suspension of RSP’s parliamentary party leader and President Rabi Lamichhane, citing the act as a political vendetta. “His suspension as a Member of Parliament does not align with the House of Representatives Regulations and the Constitution. He has been charged with property laundering, among others, which is against the Constitution,” he claimed.
President Ram Chandra Paudel issued four ordinances on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on January 13. They include the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Good Governance Promotion and Public Service Flow, the Economic Procedures and Financial Responsibility (First Amendment) Ordinance, the Privatization (First Amendment) Ordinance, and the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Improving Economic and Business Environment and Investment Promotion. Two days later, the President issued the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Land Management.
