POKHARA: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has continued its protests against the arrest of party President Rabi Lamichhane on Monday as well.
The party is organizing a demonstration at Prithvi Chowk in Pokhara, claiming that Lamichhane’s arrest was politically motivated.
Protesters chanted slogans demanding justice for cooperative victims, action against mafias and denounced, what they termed, a corrupt government.
Lamichhane, who was arrested from Kathmandu on Friday for investigation into cooperative fraud and organized crime, was presented before the Kaski District Court on Sunday. The court has allowed police to keep him in custody for investigation until Wednesday.
The RSP President has been accused of misappropriating cooperative deposits while he was serving as the Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network. Lamichhane has denied in role in bringing funds to the media company from cooperatives, but said he would take responsibility for any funds spent by him during his tenure in Gorkha Media Network.
