RSP cadres chant slogans against Amresh Kumar Singh in Jaleshwar Amresh-Jaleshwar-RSP

KATHMANDU: Supporters of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) staged a protest against their own party’s lawmaker, Amresh Kumar Singh, in Jaleshwar of Mahottari on Monday.

Singh, who was elected from Sarlahi-4, had arrived in Jaleshwar, the district headquarters of Mahottari, on Monday.

RSP supporters chanted slogans against Singh while he was holding discussions at the District Administration Office with the Chief District Officer, the chief of the District Police Office, and heads of other government offices. They changed slogans against him, including “Down with Amaresh Singh.”

Police intervened and stopped the protesters after they attempted to enter the meeting hall.

According to party sources, the protest was triggered by Singh’s visit to Mahottari and his engagement with district officials without coordinating with local party leaders and cadres.

RSP leaders and cadres, including Prakash Pathak, Ashok Jha, and Bicky Pandey, took part in the demonstration.

The protesters argued that Singh, without a proper mandate from the party, held discussions with key officials, including the Chief District Officer, police chief, and investigation authorities, bypassing local representatives.

Jaleshwar falls under the Mahottari-3 seat of the House of Representatives. Ujjwal Jha of the RSP was elected from the constituency in the March 5 elections.

Jha is currently reported to be in Jaleshwar

Following the meeting, Singh and Mahottari’s Chief District Officer reportedly visited Jha’s residence.
