KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has advised Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to undergo a floor test at the earliest.

RSP ministers had reached the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday to tender their resignations. However, Dahal requested them not to step down immediately as he intends to exercise his constitutional rights to face parliament.

Dahal’s government has fallen into the minority after CPN-UML withdrew its support on Wednesday evening. This means Dahal will now have to undergo a floor test within 30 days.

“Prime Minister Dahal requested us not to resign immediately, stating that he would exercise his constitutional right to face the parliament after losing the majority,” Santosh Pariyar, chief whip of RSP, told journalists. “We told PM Dahal that we respect his constitutional rights and requested him to face the parliament at the earliest.”
