KATHMANDU: The Revenue Advisory Committee of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has set a budget ceiling of Rs 25.11 billion for the metropolis for the fiscal year 2025/26.
A meeting of the committee held on Friday set the budget ceiling.
KMC has presented a Rs 25.70 billion budget for the current fiscal year.
Speaking at the meeting, Mayor Balendra Shah said more budget should be allocated for the infrastructure sector to expedite development projects as per the aspirations of the Kathmandu denizens.
The committee has decided to increase the budget ceiling for infrastructure development compared to the current fiscal year.
The 40th meeting of the Municipal Executive will set the date for the Municipal Assembly, where Mayor Shah will present policy and programs for 2025/26 and Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol will present the fiscal budget.
Although local governments are required to bring their fiscal budget by Asar 10 (June 24 this year) as per the Nepali calendar, the KMC failed to bring its budget due to its internal disputes.
