KATHMANDU: The government has released Rs 1.41 billion for the construction of temporary residence facilities for those rendered homeless by the November 3 earthquakes as well as other recent earthquakes.
The first tranche of funds was released for Jajarkot, Rukum West, Bajhang, Bajura, and Salyan districts, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
Of the amount, Jajarkot and Rukum West districts will receive Rs 500 million each, while Rs 250 million has been allocated for Bajhang, Rs 140 million for Bajura, and Rs 20 million for Salyan district.
According to NDRRMA Spokesperson Dhruba Bahadur Khadka, the amount of the first tranche was released as per the Temporary Residence Construction Guidelines, 2023, which was approved by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee on November 12.
Khadka said that the amount would be disbursed by the concerned local units.
