RPP shortlists six for Rupandehi-3 by-election; RJM picks Badre Lama

BUTWAL: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has recommended six potential candidates for the upcoming by-election in the Rupandehi-3 seat of the House of Representatives.

The Rupandehi-3 seat became vacant after the demise of Deepak Kumar Bohora. The RPP candidate defeated Balkrishna Khand of the Nepali Congress (NC) by more than 2,700 votes.

The Election Commission is holding a by-election to fill the seat on November 3.

A meeting of the Rupandehi District Committee of the party held on Sunday shortlisted central committee members Basanta Bikram Shahi and Swati Thapa, district chairperson Sagar Pratap Rana, sons of the late RPP leader—Gaurav Bohora and Prajwal Bohora—as well as district leader Dilip Kumar Mallik. It also decided to begin formal preparations for the by-election.

Meanwhile, the Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal has decided to field leftist leader and central advisor Badré Alam as its candidate. Party Chairperson Chitra Bahadur KC announced Alam’s candidacy through a press statement on Sunday.
