RPP postpones general convention of its youth wing as rival factions clash

KATHMANDU: The general convention of the Kathmandu District Committee of National Democratic Youth Front, the youth wing of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), was postponed indefinitely on Wednesday after rival factions clashed.

The confrontation erupted when leaders and supporters aligned with General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana began chanting slogans against leaders of the establishment faction of RPP, including Chairperson Rejendra Lingden. As tension escalated, the establishment faction called off the event.

A large number of security personnel have been deployed at the event venue to prevent clashes between the two factions.

After the establishment faction postponed the general convention, the anti-establishment faction led by General Secretary Rana has unilaterally formed a new leadership of the Front under the chairmanship of Jyoti Lama.
