RPP participating in polls to save the country: Lingden

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairperson Rajendra Lingden has said that although elections may not be the solution to the current problems, the party has entered the electoral fray to save the country.

Speaking at an interaction with RPP candidates in Kathmandu on Sunday, Lingden said that even though elections being held under the old system cannot solve the country’s problems, the party has chosen to participate to prevent the nation from falling into further crisis. “The current problems cannot be resolved without a new agreement among the king, political parties, and the younger generation so that the decisive authority remains in the hands of the Nepali people,” he said.

Lingden said that the RPP, as a democratic party, decided to make use of elections rather than resort to rebellion. “The country has reached a stage where the bigger question is not infrastructure development, but whether the nation itself will survive or not,” he added.

The RPP chair, who is contesting the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5 from Jhapa-3, also claimed that RPP has the capacity to transform the country within a short period of time.
