
KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is staging a demonstration in Kathmandu on Tuesday, demanding the reinstatement of the monarchy and the release of party leaders and cadres in police custody.
The local administration has designated Balkhu as the protest site for the party following violent incident in Tinkune on Arch 28 which claimed two lives.
The RPP has claimed that the demonstration will be peaceful.
Although the party had requested permission to hold a mass gathering at Bhrikuti Mandap, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, told the party that the demonstration can be held at either Sifal or Balkhu.
Meanwhile, RPP Chairperson Rajendra Lingden said that the party has mobilized thousands of volunteers to prevent acts that could instigate violence.
The RPP has also received support from the monarchy reinstatement committee led by Navaraj Subedi for Tuesday’s protest.
