RPP's Parliamentary Party Spokesperson Gyanendra Shahi
KATHMANDU: The pro-monarchy Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) opened its account in the House of Representatives election with the victory of Gyan Bahadur Shahi in Jumla.
According to the final counting results, Shahi was reelected to the lower house receiving 14,816 votes. His closest contender, Naresh Bhandari of Nepali Communist Party (NCP), got 11,635 votes.
Shahi had received 22,819 votes when he was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022.
He is likely to be the party’s only representative in the lower hosue under the first-past-the-post system as no other candidate of the party is leading in counting across the country.
The party had won 14 seats in the 2022 House of Representatives.
