KATHMANDU: A Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader was beaten up at the party office on Sunday.
According to RPP leader and lawmaker Deepak Bahadur Singh, an unidentified group roughed up Shrestha as they were coming out of the meeting hall. “The gang started attacking Shrestha as we were coming out of the meeting hall for lunch,” Singh told Himal Press.
The incident occurred outside the office of party Chairman Rajendra Lingiden.
An RPP leader told Himal Press that Shrestha had accused RPP Vice Chairman Bikram Pandey of corruption in the meeting. Pandey, who is also a construction entrepreneur, had responded aggressively to Shrestha’s allegation in the meeting. Lingden had announced a lunch break after a heated discussion ensued between leaders.
A group of youths can be seen manhandling Shrestha in a video clip. Some RPP leaders can be seen trying to stop the youths in the clip.
