KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has said that it would organize a demonstration in restricted areas of Kathmandu Valley on Sunday.

RPP Chairperson Rajendra Lingden said the meeting of the party’s Work Performance Committee held on Thursday decided to proceed with its planned demonstration while strengthening its organization.

“Since the government has suppressed people’s right to peaceful assembly by declaring restricted areas, the party has decided to organize a demonstration in those places to protest the government’s decision,” Lingden added.

The meeting decided to organize rallies, sit-ins, and demonstrations across all 77 districts on April 22. Within the Kathmandu Valley, party leaders will engage at the ward level to strengthen the organization and focus on its demonstration.

According to Lingden, the meeting also demanded the immediate release of party leaders Ravindra Mishra and Dhawal Shamsher Rana, and others arrested during from Kathmandu during the March 28 protest. The party will pursue all legal and political means to secure their release, said Lingden.

Additionally, the meeting has decided to form a special committee to streamline the party’s protest programs.
