Romania defeats Ukraine 3-0

KATHMANDU: Romania defeated Ukraine 3-0 in its first match of the 2024 Euro Cup in Munich on Monday.

Although Ukraine enjoyed the lion’s share of possession in the first Group E fixture, it was Romania who took the lead through Nicolae Stanciu. The Romanian captain scored from a long-range shot in the 29th minute capitalizing on poor ball distribution by Ukraine keeper Andriy Lunin.

The Tricolorii doubled their lead in the 53rd minute when Razvan Marin’s powerful shot squeezed past Lunin. Denis Dragus added Romania’s third with an easy tap-in from the six-yard box.

This was the first match between the two sides since the 2016 international friendly which Ukraine won 4-3.
