KATHMANDU: The restriction barring former home secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadee from leaving Kathmandu Valley has been lifted.
Issuing a statement on Friday, the judicial inquiry commission investigating the incidents of September 8 and 9 said the restriction was lifted based on the request of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Duwadee is currently posted at the National Planning Commission (NPC) Secretariat.
“In his capacity as the coordinator of the committee formed to assess the damage to public property, physical infrastructure, commercial establishments, and private assets during the Gen Z movement, and to prepare a reconstruction plan for public infrastructure, Duwadee is required to conduct on-site assessments in all seven provinces. Since he may need to appear before the commission at any time, the commission has decided to grant him conditional permission to leave the Valley for a maximum of seven days, upon informing the commission, in order to carry out the aforementioned tasks,” the commission said in the statement.
The restriction on his foreign visit, however, is still in place.
