KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka has instructed agencies concerned to resolve the problems seen in the expansion of the transmission line of the Arun III Hydroelectric Project.
During a virtual meeting with representatives from the Arun III Hydroelectric Project, the Office of the Investment Board Nepal, and Chief District Officers from five districts, Minister Khadka instructed all parties to focus on resolving the problem at the earliest.
“A delay of even a single day in power generation can result in losses of millions for the state. As this impacts both the project and the entire country, we must address even minor issues to ensure timely completion of the project,” he added.
Minister Khadka also highlighted the government’s target of generating 28,500 MW of electricity in Nepal by 2035.
Speaking on the occasion, Energy Secretary Gopal Prasad Sigdel assured that the ministry would provide necessary coordination and support to resolve project-related issues.
Earlier, Chief District Officers from Sankhuwasabha, Dhanusha, Khotang, Bhojpur and Udaypur districts as well as the CEO of the Arun III project briefed Minister Khadka on the challenges that the project has been facing in building the transmission line.
