KATHMANDU: Resham Chaudhary has been unanimously elected as the Chairperson of Nagarik Unmukti Party.
Chaudhary was declared elected as there were no other candidates for the post of chairman in the party’s 1st General Convention in Tikapur, Kailali, on Friday.
Chaudhary replaces his wife Ranjita as the chairperson of the party. Ranjita is currently serving as the Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation.
Although Chaudhary was serving a life sentence for the Tikapur massacre, he was granted amnesty by the President on the occasion of Republic Day on May 26.
