KATHMANDU: Relief quota teachers have withdrawn their protest program after signing a five-point agreement with the government.
Minister for Education, Science and Technology Ashoki Rai, Minister for State for Education, Science and Technology Pramila Kumari, and chairpersons and representatives of Nepal Reelief Quota Teachers Association and Confederation of Nepalese Teachers Kamala Tuladhar, among others, attended the meeting on Friday.
“We have reached an agreement with the agitating relief quota teachers on Friday,” Minister Rai said. “Their demands will be addressed by making amendments to the Education Bill registered in parliament.”
The government has agreed to allow all relief quota teachers to participate in an internal examination for permanent appointment. Likewise, it has been agreed that if relief quota teachers pass the examination and secure permanent appointments, their service term as relief quota teachers will also be counted.
Thousands of relief quota teachers were protesting in Kathmandu ever after the Confederation of Nepalese Teachers signed an agreement with the government earlier this week.
