Rawal announces launch of ‘awakening campaign’

KATHMANDU: Bhim Rawal, who was recently dismissed from CPN-UML, has announced the launch of a motherland awakening campaign.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Rawal said his vision is to evolve the campaign into a political party. “It is necessary to walk on the path of rule of law, systems, governance and good practices. Based on these principles, we must formulate comprehensive ideas, programs and policies concerning the nation and its people, while running campaigns both domestically and internationally. The creation of a patriotic alternative political force has become inevitable, and our steps and efforts will move in that direction,” Rawal said.

According to Rawal, the campaign will be carried out across the country to raise public awareness against corruption and misgovernance. He also said the Nepali Congress (BP) and other like-manded parties and groups will join his campaign.

Rawal spent the majority of his written statement criticizing UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli. He also criticized the UML and other political parties for increasing public frustration and weakening national sovereignty. “UML has lost its essence. Sadly, other parties seem to be heading in the same direction,” Rawal added.
