KATHMANDU: The death toll in the Tamakoshi bus accident has risen to 11.
According to the Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police, DIG Abi Narayan Kafle, 11 passengers in the ill-fated bus died, while seven are receiving treatment.
The bus heading to Pokali of Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu veered off the Khurkot-Manthali Road near Seleghat and plunged into the Tamakoshi River at 10:45 am on Tuesday.
Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Police personnel have pulled the bus from the river using excavators. Search for the missing passengers is underway.
Officials say the number of passengers in the bus is not clear, as many may have boarded after it left the bus park with eight passengers.
Ramechhap police had earlier said 18 passengers were rescued from the accident site and sent to different hospitals for treatment.
