DHANUSHA: Janakpurdham, revered as the birthplace of Sita, is alive with vibrant celebrations today as devotees mark Ram Navami, the birth anniversary of Lord Ram, with great enthusiasm.
Thousands of devotees, including sadhus and saints from various parts of India and districts across Nepal, have flocked to Janakpurdham to participate in the festivities since Saturday. The ancient Ram Temple in Janakpur, known as both Ram’s land of love and Sita’s birthplace, is hosting the Ram Navami Mahotsav.
Ram Tapeshwar Das Vaishnav, the chief priest of Janaki Temple, said a large number of saints and devotees from Nepal and India have arrived in Janakpur for Ram Nawami celebrations. He added that the temple premises is resonating with devotional bhajans and kirtans performed by the devotees, alongside traditional Mithila songs typically sung during birth ceremonies, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of Ram’s birth celebration. “Formal worship and rituals will be organized throughout the day, with evening programs featuring congratulatory songs, processions and musical performances to honor Lord Ram’s birth,” he added.
Dipendra Sah, ward chairman of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-3, said the number of devotees visiting the Janaki Temple and Ram Temple has been steadily increasing since the Nepal Railway began operating on the Kurtha-Janakpur-Jaynagar route.
