KATHMANDU: Captain Puja Mahato has been named in the ‘Team of the Tournament’ of the ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup held recently in Malaysia.
Mahato secured her spot as an all-rounder, thanks to her impressive performance of 70 runs and nine wickets throughout the tournament.
The ‘Team of the Tournament’ includes four players from India, two each from South Africa and England, and one each from Sri Lanka, Nepal and Australia.
Defending champions India lifted the Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup title after defeating South Africa by nine wickets in a one-sided final in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
Nepal defeated Malaysia by seven wickets in the play-offs as it missed out on an opportunity to qualify for the Super Six after losses to Scotland, Bangladesh and Scotland.
