Public support still strong despite social media ‘rumors’: Dahal

KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that a misconception is growing among people that those who create hype on social media are the real liberators.

Speaking at party headquarters in Koteshwar on Tuesday, Dahal said a false narrative has been created that those making noises on social media are the real saviors, while those who spent decades in struggle and set examples of sacrifice, austerity, ideology, and commitment are being discredited. “There is an attempt on social media to portray Nepal as being completely taken over by people who lack ideology, history, sacrifice, dedication, and integrity,” Dahal said. “I feel these rumors being spread in urban areas are not true and that people still have positive sentiment toward party unification efforts taken by us.”

Dahal called on party leaders and cadres to unite against those who believe they have “captured” Nepal simply by engaging on social media.
