Provincial minister, four others injured in Bajhang road accident

DHANGADHI: Five people were injured when a car carrying a provincial minister met with an accident in Bajhang district on Tuesday.

Prithbi Bahadur Singh, the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of Sudurpaschim Province, is among the injured. Minister Singh, who sustained injuries to his face and leg, is currently receiving treatment at Riti Polyclinic in Deura, Kedarsyu Rural Municipality-1, according to the police. The condition of MInister Singh, his spouse Amrita, his relative Jayadevi Singh and his personal security officer Deepak Bhandari is said to be critical. Car driver Dharmadev Joshi has sustained minor injuries.

“We are preparing to airlift the injured to Nepalgunj for treatment,” said Satya Kumari Joshi, the officiating Chief District Officer of Bajhang, said.

The Minister was en route to Chainpur of Bajhang from Dadeldhura when the car veered off the road and fell 50 meters below to banks of the Kalanga River.
