KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala has said that preparation was underway to delegate the authority of printing driving licenses to provincial governments.
Speaking at a program organized by CPN (Unified Socialist) in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Jwala said the ministry has already held a discussion for the same with the concerned ministers and secretaries of the provincial governments. “We concluded in the meeting that the driving licensing system should no longer be kept under the ambit of the federal government,” he added.
Jwala also said the ministry has begun the process to scrap over 100,000 driving licenses issued in an unauthorized manner. “More than 29,000 such licenses have already been scrapped,” he added.
