KATHMANDU: The government has formed a team to engage in discussions with the protesting Nepal Medical Association (NMA).
The term formed by Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, is led by Additional Secretary Dr Bikash Devkota, according to Tulsi Nath Gautam, joint secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population. Joint secretaries from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, and the Ministry of Health and Population are the other members of the committee.
The talks team has promptly invited the doctors for negotiations.
NMA has halted all services except emergency services at healthcare facilities nationwide from Sunday demanding action against individuals who assaulted two doctors of Hetauda-based Sancho Hospital last week.
