KATHMANDU: Prof Dr Keshar Jung Baral has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University (TU).
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also the Chancellor of TU, appointed Baral to the post on Thursday, according to the RSS news agency.
A recommendation committee led by Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Ashok Kumar Rai, had recommended the names of Prof Dr. Baral along with Prof Dr Chitra Kudhathoki, and Prof Dr Tanka Nath Dhamala for the post on Sunday.
Prof Dr Baral has been teaching Finance at TU since 2013. He previously served as the Vice Chancellor of Pokhara University for four years. He holds a PhD in Capital Structure and Cost of Capital from Delhi University, India, awarded in 1997.
A total of 43 individuals had applied for the post. The recommendation committee narrowed down the number to 14 before recommending three names to Prime Minister Dahal.
