KATHMANDU: Printing of ballot papers for the first-past-the-post seats in the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 has begun.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, along with other Election Commission (EC) officials, visited Janak Education Materials Centre in Sanothimi on Monday to inspect the printing process.
After the inspection, Bhandari said printing had begun for 20.32 million ballots for the direct seats. He said the work is expected to be completed within about 15 days.
He also said printing of 20.85 million ballots for the proportional representation system has already been completed.
According to Bhandari, the EC plans to dispatch ballot papers to all constituencies by February 17. He added that arrangements for ballot security and other election preparations have also been completed.
Earlier, Janak Education Materials Centre had printed and delivered around 1.1 million sample ballots for the FPTP seats to the EC.
