KATHMANDU: Major General Gerald M. Strickland of the British Army presented the annual report of the Brigade of Gurkhas to President Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, President Paudel said that Nepal and the United Kingdom have been cooperating on issues related to development, human welfare, and peace in international forums, and that both countries share similar views on establishing world peace through United Nations peacekeeping missions.
Expressing satisfaction that the British Gurkhas have further strengthened bilateral relations between Nepal and the UK through their commendable service, President Paudel said the presence of Nepalis in the United Kingdom has helped further consolidate people-to-people ties between the two countries, according to the President’s Secretariat.
The President also said relevant authorities would carry out the necessary study of the report and take necessary decisions as needed.
On the occasion, Major General Strickland praised the British Gurkhas, saying they have always been at the forefront. He added that the British people express love and respect for Nepali Gurkhas.
British Ambassador to Nepal Rob Fenn was also present at the event.
