Prez, PM offer prayers at Pashupatinath Temple

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister Sushila Karki offered prayers and paid homage at Pashupatinath Temple on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri festival.

President Paudel, accompanied by First Lady Sabita Paudel, visited the temple on Sunday afternoon to offer prayers at the temple. The chief priest of the temple offered sandalwood tika and prasad to the President and First Lady.

Likewise, Prime Minister Sushila Karki also offered prayers at the temple. separately.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Anil Kumar Sinha, who also serves as chair of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), along with other ministers, secretaries, PADT officials and representatives of local bodies, and senior officials of the Guthi Sansthan, welcomed the President and Prime Minister in separate ceremonies.

It is a longstanding tradition for the Head of State to offer prayers at Pashupatinath Temple on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
