President’s daughter among 12 in NC’s PR list from Gandaki

POKHARA: The Nepali Congress has included 12 candidates from Gandaki Province in its closed list of proportional representation candidates for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

The list, which was submitted to the Election Commission on Tuesday morning, includes Sangya Pokhrel Paudel, the daughter of President Ram Chandra Paudel.

Paudel, originally from Tanahun, is currently residing in Kaski.

The other candidates on the list are Renuka Kauchha, Shakuntala Sharma, and Parbati Acharya from Baglung; Sita Devi Devkota and Sangeeta Ghimire Kafle from Nawalpur; Jagat Bahadur Baram from Gorkha; Romi Gauchan Thakali from Mustang; Maya Rana from Syangja; Indira Khanal from Tanahun; Srijana Panta from Parbat; and Ai Bahadur Gurung from Kaski, along with Sangya Pokharel Paudel.

Of the 11 districts in Gandaki, Baglung has the highest representation, with three candidates included on the proportional list.

A total of 110 are elected to the 275-member lower house from the PR system. The remaining 165 are elected through the first past the post (FPTP) system.
