KATHMANDU: Voting for the presidential election has completed.
According to the office of the electoral officer, counting will begin from 4 pm.
Ram Chandra Poudel of Nepali Congress and Subash Chandra Nembang of CPN-UML are contesting the presidential election. While Poudel has nominated Ramesh Lekhak as his polling agent, Mahesh Bartaula has been named polling agent of Nembang.
The Office of the Electoral Officer plans to hand over certificate of election to the winning candidate on Thursday itself.
The two candidates have agreed to term ballot papers with Swastik mark inside the box as valid. They have also agreed to count votes of members of federal parliament and province assemblies separately.
The winning candidate will succeed Bidya Devi Bhandari as Nepal’s third president. Bhandari’s term is expiring on March 13.
