KATHMANDU: Counting of votes cast in the presidential election has begun.
According to the office of the electoral officer, counting has begun at Lhotse Hall in the Federal Parliament Building. The office is planning to hand over certificate of election on Thursday itself.
A total of 313 members of federal parliament and 518 province assembly members have cast their vote.
Ram Chandra Poudel of Nepali Congress (NC) and Subash Chandra Nembang of CPN-UML are contesting the election to become third president of the country. While Poudel is the common candidate of nine-party allinace, Nembang has the support of only his party CPN-UML.
