President worships Chhati Mata

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel offered prayers and arghya (offering of water) to the setting sun and Chhathi Mata on the banks of the Bagmati River in front of the Guhyeshwari Temple on Monday evening.

President Paudel was accompanied by his spouse, Sabita Paudel, during the ritual observance.

The President was welcomed by National Assembly member Bishnu Devi Pudasaini, officials from the Pashupati Area Development Trust, and members of the Guhyeshwari Chhath Puja Committee.

This year, Chhath ghats have been constructed and decorated along both banks of the Bagmati River from Guhyeshwari to Gaurighat, as well as in other areas of the capital, including Kamalpokhari, Thapathali, Kupandol, Ram Tirtha in Sanepa, and on the banks of the Nakkhu and Bishnumati rivers. Clay idols of Chhathi Mata have also been installed at these sites, where devotees worshipped and offered prayers to the setting sun and the goddess.
