President, PM condole loss of lives in Xizang quake

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli have expressed condolences over the loss of lives in Xizang, China.

Writing a post on social media platform X, President Paudel said he was deeply saddened by the tragic loss of precious lives and properties caused by the devastating earthquake. “While extending heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family members, I pray for the early recovery of those injured. Nepal stands firmly by the government and the people of the People’s Republic of China at this moment of profound grief,” he wrote.

Similarly, Prime Minsiter Oli said he was deeply saddened by the devastating earthquake in China. “Heartfelt condolences to President Xi Jinping, the people of China, and the bereaved families,” he wrote. “In this tragedy, Nepal firmly stands in solidarity with our neighbors. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.”

According to Chinese news agency Xinhua, a total of 95 people have been confirmed dead and 130 others injured as of 3 pm (Beijing time) on Tuesday.
