KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel observed the Indrajatra festival at Basantapur, Kathmandu, on Thursday.
President Paudel reached the Gaddibaithak, Hanumandhoka, from Juddha Salik on foot and observed the Indrajatra festivities, according to Kiran Pokhrel, the press advisor to President Poudel.
Other dignitaries like Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timalsina, ministers, lawmakers, province assembly members, people’s representatives, and foreign dignitaries observed the festivities.
On the occasion, President Paudel offered prayers to Lord Ganesh, Lord Bhairav and Goddess Kumari. Locals pull the chariots of Ganesh, Bhairav and Kumari and take them to different settlements of ancient Kathmandu.
Pulukisi and Majipa Lakhe are the other attractions of the Indrajatra festival. Masked dances are also organized throughout the weeklong festival.
