KATHMANDU: The summer session of the House of Representatives has been prorogued.

President Ram Chandra Paudel ended the session, also known as the budget session, with effect from Monday midnight on the recommendation of the cabinet, according to a statement issued by the Office of the President.

The current session began on May 10.

Four Bills Passed in Four Months

The summer session of the federal parliament is also referred to as the budget session. As per the constitution, the government must bring the budget for the next fiscal year on May 28.

During the summer session, the House of Representatives passed two bills in addition to two budget-related bills. These included the Bill to Amend the Enforced Disappearances Enquiry, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act (2014), 2023, and the Bill to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Related to Investment Facilitation.

Both bills have been authenticated by the President and are already in effect.

Similarly, the National Assembly passed the Archives Preservation (First Amendment) Bill and the Security Printing Bill. Both of these bills have already been certified by the President and are now in effect.
