KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has dismissed three provincial chiefs from their positions.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the President, Harishankar Mihra of Madhesh Province, Prithvi Man Gurung of Gandaki Province, and Dev Raj Joshi have been relieved of their responsibilities as per Article 165 (1) (B) of the Constitution of Nepal on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

The cabinet decided to remove these provincial chiefs, who were appointed on the quota of the Nepali Congress, following the formation of a new ruling alliance involving the CPN-UML.
