KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has authorised police to keep Durga Prasai, the commander of the pro-monarchy protest in Tinkune on March 28, in custody for 12 days for investigation.
The bench of District Judge Sishir Raj Dhakal issued the order on Friday.
According to police, Prasai, who had been absconding after the Tinkune incident, was arrested in Jhapa on Friday morning, brought to Kathmandu and subsequently produced before the court.
Two people died in the Tinkune incident, while several others were injured. Protesters also vandalised public and private property and set fire to government offices, business establishments, and offices of media and political parties.
A video posted on social media shows Prasai attempting to run over police personnel with his car.
