Prakash Paudel back to music scene with new song ‘Budaa Budi Mileko’

KATHMANDU: Singer and lyricist Dr Prakash Paudel, once popular for the early 2000s hit cry rap Nai Malai Tyahi Keti Chahinchha, has made a comeback to the Nepali music scene with a new song titled Budaa Budi Mileko.

Currently based in Abu Dhabi, Dr Paudel, who holds a PhD in astrology and works as the UAE chief representative of Prabhu Bank, has returned to music nearly two and a half decades after his first hit. The song was released on Friday through OSR Digital’s YouTube channel.

Blending humor and everyday realism, Budaa Budi Mileko portrays the playful banter between a married couple. The lyrics are written by Paudel himself, while the music is composed by Deep Raj Neyong Hang. The video, directed by journalist Subrat Acharya, features models Sakshi Lamsal and Kamal Singh, alongside Dr Paudel and others.

Even before its official release, the song had already gained popularity among Nepalis in the Gulf region. Videos featuring couples performing to the tune went viral on TikTok, including one by Nepali Public Relations Committee UAE president Bhuvani Prasad Timilsina and his wife Gauri.

Dr Paudel, who has previously released six albums, says this comeback bridges his nostalgic connection to cassette-era audiences and today’s digital generation. “Music is like a pulse that never fades,” he said, adding that he intends to continue his creative journey with new energy.
