KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has assured members of his cabinet that rumors about a change in the existing power equation were baseless.
Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, stated after Monday’s cabinet meeting that Prime Minister Dahal briefed the ministers that his discussions with CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli were focused on maintaining the current power equation for a long time.
“There have been no discussions about any changes in the power equation. Speculations regarding this government are unfounded,” Sharma quoted Dahal as saying during the meeting.
Minister Sharma also said no discussion has been held for the formation of a national government. “Parties are making efforts to forge a national consensus on several issues, including transitional justice laws. National consensus does not mean that national government will be formed,” she added.
