KATHMANDU: The government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25 has been approved by the House of Representatives amid obstructions by the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC).
Amid chanting of slogans by NC lawmakers on Sunday, Speaker Devraj Ghimire announced that a majority vote has approved the policies and programs for the fiscal year 2024/25.
Earlier in the meeting, lawmakers including Chitra Bahadur KC, Prem Suwal, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Janardan Sharma, Swarnim Wagle, and Birendra Prasad Mahato, among others, participated in discussions on the government’s policies and programs.
After that, Speaker Ghimire announced that the government’s annual policies and programs had been passed by a majority. “I hereby announce that the policies and programs of the Government of Nepal for the fiscal year 2024/25 presented by the President in the joint session of both Houses of the Federal Parliament on May 14 have been approved by a majority,” he stated.
NC has been obstructing House meetings for the past many days, demanding formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee to probe cooperative fraud allegations against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
