KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three individuals on charges of production and distribution of counterfeit liquor of different established brands.
According to the Valley Crime Division, Niraj Upreti of Dolakha, Dharmi Goudel of Syangja, and Ganesh Bahadur Rana Magar of Sindhuli were arrested after counterfeit liquor was found at Next Taste Liquors, a business operated by Upreti. The trio was found to be distributing counterfeit liquor prepared in the Tikahatli area of Lalitpur.
Police also recovered chemicals used to make fake liquor, empty bottles of different brand liqors, excise duty stickers, and labeling and packaging machines. The trio has been sent to the District Police Range Lalitpur for further investigation.
Additional individuals, including Binod Karki, Bhagwan Basnet, Gopal Pun Magar, Hari Oli, Manoj Khatri, Gaurab Tamang, and Gopi Krishna Shrestha, have also been found to be preparing counterfeit liquors at Tikathali. Police have seized six bottles of Golden Oak, 48 bottles of 8848 Vodka, 420 bottles of Muglan, 92 bottles of Khukuri Rum, and 132 bottles of Ruslan Vodka.
