KATHMANDU: The District Police Range, Kathmandu, has made public 23 Indian nationals involved in online betting through Lotus 365 platform. They were arrested from the residence of Dorje Sherpa at Gairigaun in Budhanilkantha Municipality-3.
During the raid, police confiscated Rs 81,000 in cash, 88 mobile phone sets,10 laptops, 50 Indian SIM cards, 15 Indian Aadhaar cards, nine Indian ATM cards, five Indian PAN cards, three Indian driving licenses and seven notebooks detailing betting transactions.
The suspects are being investigated under illegal gambling charges, according to SSP Bishwo Adhikari. “Our preliminary investigations have shown that the racket handled betting worth approximately Rs 3 billion,” he added.
Police have secured a five-day remand for the Indian nationals from the Kathmandu District Court for further investigation.
Fourteen of the suspects are from Bihar state of India, while five are from Uttar Pradesh and four from Chhatisgarh.
