KATHMANDU: The police have made yet another arrest as part of their investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugees scam.
According to SP Rebindra Regmi, a team mobilized by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested Keshab Tuladhar (59) from the Sano Bharyang area of Kathmandu.
He had been evading the police since the investigation into the case started.
“We have handed over Tuladhar to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, for investigation into charges of fraud and organized crime,” added Regmi.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, and current government secretary Tek Narayan Pandeya, among others, have also been arrested as part of the investigation into the case.
A criminal racket swindled tens of millions of rupees from hundreds of Nepalis by promising them resettlement in the US as Bhutanese refugees.
