KATHMANDU: CPN-UML General Shankar Pokhrel met with Liu Jianchao, Chief of the Foreign Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in Beijing on Monday
During their meeting, Pokhrel expressed Nepal’s unwavering commitment to the one-China policy and its determination to prevent any anti-China activities within Nepali territory.
According to Rajendra Gautam, Chief of the UML Publicity Department, Pokhrel also said Nepal will maintain international relations and cooperation based on a non-aligned policy and the principles of Panchasheel, a set of five principles of peaceful coexistence.
In response, the Chinese leader acknowledged the strong and cordial ties between the CPC and the CPN-UML and expressed a desire for further growth in these relations.
During their discussion, both leaders recalled the agreements reached between the Nepali government under UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and Chinese President Xi Jinping during President Xi’s visit to Nepal in October, 2019. They reaffirmed their commitment to implementing these agreements.
The Chinese leader reiterated China’s enduring support for peace, development, and prosperity in Nepal.
