POKHARA: Deepak Prasad Subedi, the chairperson of Ward-21 of Pokhara Metropolitan City, was arrested on fraud charges on Tuesday just moments after he was released on a bail of Rs 800,000.
Subedi, who had been evading authorities for a long time after being named as a defendant in the Mitra Milan Cooperative fraud case, presented himself to the Kaski District Court on Tuesday, where he was swiftly granted bail of Rs 800,000. However, he was arrested again by the Ward Police Station, Baidam.
DSP Shrawan Kumar BK, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kaski, told Himal Press that Subedi was arrested on a fraud case filed by one Shanti KC.
The district court has issued arrest warrants for 33 people, including Subedi, in the Mitra Milan Cooperative fraud case. Six of them are in judicial custody, Subedi was released on bail on Tuesday, while 26 others are still at large.
The District Government Attorney’s Office has sought to recover Rs 317.82 billion from the defendants and has requested prison terms for them as per the law.
